Scheduling Policy

We recommend any new patient to have a complete exam first. The appointment usually takes an hour in which we will record all the information of your oral cavity and do a thorough exam with necessary X-rays. After that, the dentist will discuss the treatment plan, recommend various options and suggest the best with the patient/guardian of patient under age of 18.

We will provide any estimate of the cost regarding the dental treatment to patient if needed.

For a patient who has not had a cleaning within the past 6 months, cleaning will be suggested the first thing to do after the exam appointment.

If you have any specific area of concern in your mouth or any emergency, you can book a specific or emergency exam first with necessary X-rays of concerned area, the dentist will exam that area and provide a treatment plan/options with an estimate of the cost before rendering any treatment. After we solve your specific concerned area, then a complete exam with necessary X-rays is recommended to book to allow the dentist to assess the full mouth condition.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.

What methods of payments do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, (including American Express), debit and cash payments.

What do I need to do prior to booking a cleaning appointment if I'm a new patient?

As part of our office policy, we require all new patients to have a comprehensive exam done, in order to have record of their oral health. The comprehensive exam also allows us to evaluate future treatments you may need.

Why do I need dental exams?

Regular exams help us spot problems early on and can prevent costly treatments. We recommend that our patients complete an exam every six months.

How can I get my records transferred?

If you are becoming a new patient with us and would like us to have your records from your previous dental office, all we need you to do is sign a form which states that we have your consent to receive the records. We will send the form for you.

What if I am not sure of my insurance coverage?

We provide complimentary insurance checks for all our patients, prior to their first visit. This way, there will be no surprises in terms of payment. Our goal is to keep our patients as informed as we possibly can.

Do you provide appointment reminders?

We send appointment reminders to all our patients 24-hours prior to their appointment. We also take note of which method of communication is best for you, (email or phone call), to make sure you don't miss it.

Do I need to submit claims or other paper work to my insurance?

We submit all claims and other paper work on your behalf, that way the only thing you need to worry about is getting the reimbursement from your insurance company. We direct bill your insurance company, meaning the only thing you need to do is pay for your services upfront. We recommend for all our patient to set up direct deposit, so the reimbursement will only take a few business days.

COVID-19 Safety Protocol

We are now open! Here are the safety measures implemented at Dundas Tomken Dental:

  • Walk-ins cannot be accommodated at this point. Please call (905) 965-0066 or use our online form to allow us to help you make an appointment.
  • If anyone in your household or anyone with whom you have had close contact is experiencing any of the following symptoms in the last 14 days: fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, even mild cold/flu-like symptoms and body aches, please do not enter the office and call to reschedule. (see Ontario self-assessment at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/)
  • Only patients with appointments will be allowed into the office. (For young child or anyone who needs assistance, only one guardian or support person will be allowed into the office if needed. We will call the guardian or support person in the car at the end of the appointment to discuss findings, recommended treatment plan and payment options.)
  • When you arrive, please call us at (905) 965-0066 and wait in your car till we notify you when the treatment room is ready for you.
  • We will pre-screen you and your support person over the phone in advance and screen you and support person upon arrival for appointment. A screening form will be emailed to you before the appointment and we highly recommended to complete that prior to your appointment. We also screen our team member every day. We want to ensure our clinic stays Covid free.
  • Please wear a face mask to your appointment.
  • Washroom will be for emergency only. (Please make preparations before you arrive.)
  • Temperature will be taken with contactless thermometer.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry to the clinic and at various points as requested.
  • All our team members have appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all appointments.

We have installed high efficiency HEPA air filtration system in each operatory room to ensure sanitary air quality and a safe environment for everyone.
